Why does Lingard still not have a club?
Backtrack to 2021, and Lingard is one of the most in form players in the Premier League, with 14 goal contributions in 16 appearances while on loan at West Ham.
Before going back to Man Utd where he had a stale ending.
So then in the summer of 2022, he was a free agent and had a decision to make.
Fulham and Newcastle were both interested and both offered him a 4 year contract, ending in 2026.
But then Nottingham Forest also got involved, and offered him a short one year contract, which came with a bigger salary and some eye watering money bonuses.
So he went with their offer.
But had a pretty poor season, with only 4 goal contributions in 20 appearances.
So when his contract ended in 2023, he was no longer as desired, meaning no major offers came in for him.
So now in 2024, he still remains without a club, which has had Paul Scholes leaving a pretty harsh comment on his picture.
