Why do some footballers wear masks?
In recent years and especially during the 2022 World Cup, the use of black protective masks have been very common.
The masks are created out of polycarbonate and are often 3D printed to perfectly fit the players’ face.
And they are often worn after a player has sustained a facial injury of some kind, such as a broken nose, cheekbone, or damage to eye sockets.
The mask is therefore worn to protect facial features and allow players to carry on without running the risk of further injury.
