Why Milan & Inter can’t demolish the San Siro

AC Milan and Inter Milan who both call the San Siro their home ground, had plans of completely knocking it down to build a new grand stadium on the same location.

But as we close in on the 100th birthday of this historic stadium, the Regional Commision of Cultural Heritage in Italy have claimed that the San Siro holds too much cultural interest to be demolished and therefore must be protected.

Meaning their original plan had to be scrapped and they are now both looking for alternative locations.

This will also likely mean that after 66 years of sharing a home, the two Serie A powerhouses will go their separate ways and into their own new stadiums.
