Football kits nowadays are far from the baggy looking vintage kits from back in the day. They've evolved a lot over the last 20 years to be more snug fit.
This has mainly been done to give opposition players nothing to pull onto and therefore limit the amount of shirt grabbing in football but it also aids performance.
Firstly, by keeping players cool and dry by expelling sweat as highlighted by Nike's "Dry-fit" branding.
And secondly, by providing elastic support and performance enhancement to key areas, which help in muscle endurance, explosiveness and in avoiding muscle related injuries.
All of which is why also many players wear tight fitted base layers underneath their kits.
