Whenever a player comes through the ranks from the Liverpool academy into the first team, they avoid giving them a low important number, so that the players stay humble and don’t feel like they’ve already made it.
Which is why Trent was given the No.66, to keep him hungry for more.
However after Trent’s breakout season, the club expected him to ask for a new and more prominent number.
But that request never came in, and the longer it went on, the more it seemed that Trent became attached to the number 66 that he already created such great memories with.
